New signing Shola Shoretire is relishing “a great opportunity” at Wanderers after joining on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.
Shoretire played 90 minutes against the Whites for United’s Under-21 side in the Papa Johns Trophy last month.
The versatile 18-year-old has already made five first-team appearances for the Old Trafford club and is the youngest player to represent them in Europe.
He has scored five times in nine appearances in Premier League 2 this season and was also on target against Fleetwood in the Papa Johns Trophy.
Shoretire is excited to get his first taste of League One football and says Wanderers’ attractive style of play influenced his decision.
“They played some very good football and similar to what we’ve played at United,” he told the club’s website.
“After that game was only when I found out Bolton had some interest and I was delighted really because it’s a great opportunity.
“Coming here at 18 I’m transitioning into the men’s game, which is exactly what I needed. Hopefully I will have a good loan here and it will put me in a good place.”
Shoretire becomes Wanderers’ third signing of the January transfer window after Randell Williams and Dan Nlundulu, who arrived from Hull City and Southampton respectively.
The youngster is eager to play a part as Ian Evatt’s men aim to build on their recent form and push for promotion to the Championship.
He added: “For me the club belongs in the Premier League and hopefully next season the Championship.
“They’re in a very good position right now to go for promotion. The team has been winning a lot. I have been keeping track and it’s just made me more excited to get here.
“I want to help the team continue to win and do as much as I possibly can to help with that.”
Shoretire will wear the number 17 shirt at Wanderers and is available for Saturday’s clash with promotion contenders Derby County at Pride Park.
