WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).
JAMES TRAFFORD…6.5.
Handling was good when it needed to be. Trafford didn’t have to work too hard for a 13th clean sheet of the season.
EOIN TOAL…8.
In such a rich vein of form, you had to wonder how it could get better. His finish for the third goal provided an answer.
WILL AIMSON…7.5.
Organised things at the back, kept things simple and if anything dropped behind Toal or Johnston, he was on it like a flash.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…7.
Another solid show. Strong in the air and tried to get forward too. Deserved a little rest after the game was done and dusted.
CONOR BRADLEY…7.
Looked sharp early on and was involved in everything Wanderers did in attack. Able to coast the last 20 minutes.
AARON MORLEY…7.
The defensive side of his game has really improved over the last few weeks. Read the game well, made a few key interceptions and didn’t waste the ball.
KYLE DEMPSEY…8.
Added pace and energy in the middle of the park, not to mention a string of dangerous crosses from the right side. Never gave Pompey a moment’s peace.
RANDELL WILLIAMS…7.
Clearly making positive fitness strides, lasting a full 90 minutes, and got through a mountain of work on the left.
KIERAN LEE…8.5.
Made a difficult finish look a simple one. Class on the ball and first on the scene practically every time Wanderers lost possession.
JON DADI BODVARSSON…6.5.
Looked bright for the opening half-hour but then rolled his ankle, which rather sums up the bad luck he has experienced so far at Bolton.
DION CHARLES…7.
Chased and harried all day – never letting the Pompey defenders settle and play their way out. Persistence led to his 12th goal of the season too.
Subs: Nlundulu 7.5, 37 (for Bodvarsson) – Wouldn’t have expected such an early debut but looked sharp, and used the ball well.
MJ Williams 73 (for Lee), Kachunga 73 (for Charles), Santos 83 (for Johnston), Sheehan 83 (for Dempsey) Not used: Sadlier, Beck.
Portsmouth (3-4-2-1): Oluwayemi; Morrison, Raggett, Ogilvie; Swanson, Tunnicliffe, Morrell, Hume; Dale, Jacobs; Bishop.
Subs: Curtis 66 (for Jacobs), Towler 67 (for Morrison), Hackett 67 (for Hume), Thompson 83 (for Tunnicliffe), Scarlett 83 (for Bishop).
Not used: Pigott, Steward.
Attendance: 17,977 (975).
Referee: Geoff Eltringham 8/10 – Barely warranted a mention all afternoon, which considering the headlines he had grabbed at Lincoln, was a welcome change.
