Cheltenham head coach Wade Elliott says Dan Nlundulu is “committed” ahead of Saturday’s clash with Morecambe.

The forward is expected to link up with Ian Evatt’s squad on Monday after signalling his intention to spend the rest of the season at Wanderers.

But Elliott is able to select the Southampton youngster for his side’s trip to the Mazuma Stadium should he wish.

It is a big game for the Robins, who currently sit six points above the drop zone following their 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers on New Year’s Day.

Elliott says Nlundulu has “really enjoyed” his time at Whaddon Road and believes the forward has matured since his arrival.

He told Gloucestershire Live: “Whatever Dan does or doesn't decide to do, or Southampton decide, until 6pm on Saturday, he's with us and he's our player.

“He's been as he has been for the four or five months previously. He is committed, part of it and he wants to go to Morecambe and do well.

“We have a really good relationship with Dan. I know he's enjoyed it here. I think we've done everything for him that we said we would.

“His game has developed and as a player and a professional he has matured. He has really, really enjoyed it here.

“He's a good player and he'll have offers. He'll make a decision from that, but whatever he decides, the way the club have been towards him, we have conducted ourselves in a really positive manner.”

Wanderers’ current attacking options include Dion Charles, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Amadou Bakayoko, while Dapo Afolayan, Elias Kachunga and Kieran Sadlier have also been used in the number nine role at times.

The Whites have already made Hull City’s Randell Williams their first signing of the transfer window, with the wing-back putting pen to paper over a two-and-a-half-year deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.
