Josh Sheehan could be available for Wanderers at Barnsley after suffering a dead leg at the end of last week.
Ian Evatt confirmed that the Wales international midfielder withdrew from the squad travelling to Lincoln City because of injury but that he hoped to be able to include him at Oakwell.
Joel Dixon will not be fit, having had a scan on a knee injury sustained in training last week. Luke Hutchinson is likely to continue as back-up to James Trafford in the meantime.
Evatt said: “Josh has quite a hefty dead leg, which didn’t settle in time. He should be OK for Barnsley but wasn’t ready for today.
“Joel had a slight knee issue that is healing all the time. It isn’t as bad as we first feared so he will be back within a week or so.”
Wanderers confirmed at the end of last week that captain Ricardo Santos and vice-captain Gethin Jones are back in full training and it remains to be seen whether Evatt phases the defensive pair back into the squad at Barnsley, or gives them a full week at Lostock in preparation for the home game against Plymouth Argyle on January 7.
Lloyd Isgrove is also available after returning to full training following a hamstring injury but George Thomason will miss the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
