WANDERERS won’t be losing James Trafford to Rangers – or anyone else – in the January window.
Ian Evatt has confirmed that the Manchester City goalkeeper will be staying at the University of Bolton Stadium for the rest of the season.
Tabloid reports over the last week had claimed that the Scottish giants were monitoring Trafford as a potential replacement for the 40-year-old Allan McGregor.
Rangers have monitored Bolton games of late – and may well be looking at the England Under-21 international with a view to the future.
But Ian Evatt killed speculation stone dead after the 1-1 draw at Lincoln, confirming that he was not planning to lose Trafford in the short term.
“There is no recall option, so James will be here for the rest of the season,” he said.
Wanderers are also understood to have an agreement with Liverpool for Conor Bradley to continue on loan through January to the end of the season.
Although there is a recall option on the Northern Ireland wing-back’s contract, the Reds have been happy with the progress Bradley has been making in a Bolton shirt and are happy to keep tabs on his regular football in League One.
Preston North End were among a handful of Championship clubs who had been watching Bradley in the hope Liverpool would send him out to play football at a higher level in the next window.
The Premier League club have regularly sent staff to check up on Bradley at Bolton’s Lostock training ground, along with his Anfield team-mate Owen Beck.
Both Trafford and Bradley have made a big impact on first team affairs at Wanderers, also proving popular among the club's supporters.
Speaking in October, Trafford said he has tried to embrace being a Bolton player as much as possible whilst still working towards his long-term goal of being Manchester City's number one.
“I try and integrate myself as much as I can,” he told The Bolton News. “While I am here, I play for Bolton. And I love it.
“It helped being here at the end of last season and I was really happy coming back.
“But I am invested in the whole thing. I like the area, I’m always knocking around, and I am really enjoying the place.
“I just want us to be successful and keep pushing on.”
