WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)
JAMES TRAFFORD…6.
Difficult conditions for goalkeeping and there were a couple of little spills but he kept out everything that mattered for a 10th clean sheet of the season.
EOIN TOAL…7.5.
You can’t help but be impressed by the start he has made to League One football. Strong defensively but also willing to push on and support Bradley on the right. Looks the real deal.
WILL AIMSON…7.
Steadying influence at the back and you could see him talking the game through with the less experienced players around him. Shown up when Bolton needed him.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…8.5.
Has worked on his deficiencies and now emerging as a proper leader, filling a void left by Jones and Santos. His tackling and heading on the day was immaculate.
CONOR BRADLEY…7.
Worked tirelessly on the right, creating problems for Derby and keeping Sibley in check. Over-exuberance was his only downfall at times.
JOSH SHEEHAN…6.
Space was at a premium in a hectic midfield, and that perhaps didn’t play to the Welshman’s strengths. Got involved, though, and won plenty of second balls.
AARON MORLEY…6.
Like Sheehan, didn’t get much time to start painting pictures with his passing, but this was a good examination of his improved defensive side.
JACK IREDALE…6.5.
Produced some good crosses and was desperately unlucky with a first half shot that was blocked but looked like it was sailing into the net.
KIERAN LEE…6.5.
Captain for the day and involved in everything good that Wanderers threw forward. His experience was missed a little in the last half-hour when he went off.
DAPO AFOLAYAN…6.
The game seemed set up for a bit of Dapo magic but it never quite materialised. Lively, tidy on the ball but ultimately didn’t get enough on the Derby goal.
DION CHARLES…6.
Had the game’s big chance, similar to the one he buried at Shrewsbury. Succeeded in pressing the Rams’ defence back and giving them little time to play the ball out.
Subs: Williams 6, 67 (for Lee), Dempsey (for Sheehan), Kachunga 78 (for Charles), Bakayoko 78 (for Morley), Bodvarsson 84 (for Afolayan).
Not used: Sadlier, Bodvarsson, Beck.
Derby County (4-4-1-1): Wildsmith; Smith, Forsyth, Cashin, Sibley; Mendez-Laing, Hourihane, Bird, Barkhuizen; Knight; Collins.
Subs: Dobbin 63 (for Barkhuizen), Osula 86 (for Mendez-Laing) Not used: Roberts, Thompson, Stearman, Loach, Davies.
Attendance: 25,428.
Referee: Sam Barrott – 7/10. Paul Warne might disagree, because he had reason to think his side should have had a penalty in the first half, but Barrott went about his business in an unfussy manner and tried to keep the game flowing. Only three yellow cards were shown on a slippery surface.
