Derby boss Paul Warne says his side’s goalless draw against Wanderers was played in “horrendous conditions”.
Dion Charles had the best chance to break the deadlock but he failed to hit the target after getting on the end of Kieran Lee’s cut back.
Substitute Elias Kachunga was also denied by Derby goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith at the death, while James Collins had a couple of chances at the other end.
“My initial emotion was we got away with one because they could have scored om the last second of the game,” said Warne. “But generally speaking, I thought it was two pretty good teams in horrendous conditions.
“I know from afar it looks alright but the pitch was lively dot com! I thought it was going to be a game that was defined by an error and not a great bit of play.
“I just felt that in the first half, when we had the opportunity to really hurt them, our final pass was just off.
“I thought we were a danger on set pieces and (Jason) Knight could have scored, Collins could have scored.”
The visitors had appeals for a penalty waved away during the first half when Tom Barkhuizen went down under Eoin Toal’s challenge.
When asked about the incident, Warne said: “I’m very biased and their manager might say different, but I can’t see why that wasn’t a penalty, or a foul at least.
I don’t know if it is in or out of the box, but they said it wasn’t a foul. It looked like assault from where I was! But I’m biased.”
He added: “I think the ref said something about it being a ‘fair contact’. I don’t really react on the sideline, I am usually pretty passive.
“I think I even jumped on the pitch in anger, I just can’t believe that is not a foul. I was hugely disappointed but I haven’t seen it back.”
The result leaves Wanderers fifth in the League One table, while Derby are just a point behind in sixth.
Ian Evatt’s men are back in action on Friday, December 30 when they make the trip to Lincoln (7.45pm).
