Barrow boss Pete Wild has challenged his side to “get after” Wanderers ahead of tomorrow night’s Papa Johns Trophy clash at the UniBol.
The Bluebirds enter the game in strong form, having won four of their last five matches in League Two.
Wild’s side currently sit fourth in the table – having won 11 of their opening 19 fixtures since the start of the campaign.
The Barrow chief is relishing the opportunity to come up against League One opposition and hopes they can build on Saturday’s 3-1 win against Hartlepool.
Wild told the club’s website: “Four games from Wembley. Why would you not want to go out and try to get to Wembley?
“So we are really looking forward to the game, especially with having no game next Saturday. It allows us to really go after this game on Tuesday night and go to a team who are doing really well in the league above.
“Let’s challenge ourselves. Let’s see where we are and see what challenges come from the team in the league above.”
He added: “We should be taking lots from that game (against Hartlepool) and hopefully we can start well and really get after them.”
Josh Gordon, Ben Whitfield and Billy Waters were all on target at the weekend, Chris Missilou pulling one back for the visitors.
Despite their current league position, the Barrow boss is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
He explained: “It is about getting to 50 points first then we will re-assess. Nothing was won at the end of November.
“I would love to be in this position or even higher come May but I am not getting carried away with positions.”
Barrow have been boosted by the return of midfielder Sam Foley, who has missed the last couple of games through injury.
However, Chelsea loanee Sam McClelland is facing a spell out of action and Robbie Gotts also remains sidelined.
The manager added: “Sam Foley will be definitely ready for Tuesday. We just felt it was a couple of days too early for him.
“Sam McClelland has now been diagnosed at Chelsea with having a hernia, so he is probably going to be out until the middle of January. And (Robbie) Gotts is probably two-and-a-half weeks away.”
