Fleetwood boss Scott Brown says his side should have “played the game” and “killed the momentum” in the final stages of their 2-1 defeat against Wanderers.
Carlos Mendes Gomes put the hosts in front with a thumping strike from outside the box after 16 minutes.
But the Whites hit back goals from through Conor Bradley and Dapo Afolayan during the final stages to secure the three points on the road.
Brown told BBC Radio Lancashire: “As soon as (the equaliser) went in we got the ball up, high up the park, and we should probably just keep it there.
“Play the game, get a throw-in, slow the game down and kill the momentum. But we actually played into their hands and let them kind of come forward with the ball.”
He added: “Bolton are a fantastic team, the way they play. They have got a fantastic support as well.
“Us playing against Bolton at home – all day long we (would) take a point. But you can’t afford to lose two goals in 10 minutes.”
The hosts had a big opportunity to go 2-0 up during the second half but Shaun Rooney was denied by the woodwork.
“I thought the first 85 minutes the lads did really well,” Brown added. “The last 10 minutes was very sloppy.
“The understanding of the gameplan and not marking men in the box was disappointing, letting people run off you as well. And it is individual errors that cost us today.
“But you could never fault their effort, they were exceptional. I thought we played some really good football.
“We created chances and had a threat on the counter as well. For us, it is a bit disappointing to be leading 1-0 until the 85th.
“You know what momentum is like in football but you’ve got to be able to stop that and deal with that. Somebody has to take responsibility and in the last 10 minutes, we didn’t do that.”
The game was stopped during the first half, with referee David Webb having a word with both captains.
When asked about the incident: Brown simply stated: “We will speak about that later.”
