Former Wanderers youngster Jamie Thomas has returned to non-league outfit Bamber Bridge.

The 25-year-old came off the bench in a 3-0 defeat against Whitby Town and nearly scored with a free kick from 25 yards, hitting the side netting.

Thomas came through the ranks at Blackpool before joining the Whites on a two-year scholarship, and was tipped for big things at the time.

However, things didn’t work out for the forward at Bolton and he was released in 2016 following the club’s relegation from the Championship.

He then spent a couple of years at North West neighbours Burnley before a stint north of the border with Ayr United.

Thomas also went on to have spells in non-league with Squires Gate, AFC Blackpool and Bamber Bridge.

The forward was given a second chance in the EFL last season at Preston North End after scoring in a pre-season friendly against Accrington.

But he made just one competitive appearance for the Deepdale club, coming off the bench in a 3-0 win at Mansfield in the Carabao Cup.

Thomas spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Halifax, playing eight times for the National League outfit in total.

Bamber Bridge are currently eighth in the Northern Premier League top flight, having picked up 25 points from their opening 16 matches since the start of the campaign.

Jamie Milligan’s men are back in action this weekend when they welcome Radcliffe to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
