WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

JAMES TRAFFORD…6.

That early mistake with his clearance set the tone for a poor start. He recovered his poised impressively, though, and his handling was first rate at times.

GETHIN JONES…6.

Overloaded at times in the first half but stuck to his task. Shifted to right-back in the second half makeover, which helped settle things down.

RICARDO SANTOS…6.

Looked out of position for Whalley’s opening goal. Won lots in the air after that and regained control at the back later in the game.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5.

Misfortune with the own goal aside, Johnston was usually first on the scene. Won plenty in the air, including the far-post header that led to the equaliser, and was particularly influential in the closing minutes.

LLOYD ISGROVE…6.

Looked as effective as anyone in a Bolton shirt early on, supplying some decent service on the right. Sacrificed understandably in the formation switch.

MJ WILLIAMS…5.5.

Off the pace in the first half and swapped out after the second goal for George Thomason. Would usually be his type of occasion.

KYLE DEMPSEY…7.5.

One of Bolton’s consistent performers throughout the day. Showed energy and bravery to get on the ball around a crowded penalty box.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…8.

Showed flashes of those twinkling feet early on but really rose to the occasion when restored to the left side of attack. Accrington didn’t know what hit them.

KIERAN LEE…7.

Quite low key for an hour but then burst into life after Wanderers got on to the scoreboard, grabbing the equaliser and running the show.

DION CHARLES…6.5.

Denied a goal that would have meant so much by two wonderful bits of defending. Left the field – slowly – with a grin a mile wide.

JON DADI BODVARSSON…5.5.

One of those days. Had a couple of good chances to get Bolton a foothold in the game and looked crestfallen when subbed.
