Wanderers will be aiming to secure their place in the Papa Johns Trophy knockout stage when they welcome Leeds United Under-21s to the UniBol.
The Whites have picked up four points from their opening two group matches, including a comfortable 4-1 win against Crewe Alexandra.
Ian Evatt’s men will be keen to build momentum, having failed to score in their last three League One fixtures following Saturday’s goalless draw against Barnsley.
Team news
Josh Sheehan and Lloud Isgrove are both set to start for Wanderers after recovering from long-term injuries.
Sheehan’s last home start came in a 2-0 win against Crewe last November, while Isgrove hasn’t played at the UniBol since a 3-0 victory against Doncaster in the same month.
However, Eoin Toal is set to miss out after missing several training sessions due to a thigh strain suffered while playing for the B Team against Lincoln City Reserves.
As for the visitors, former Arsenal prospect Sam Greenwood is suspended after receiving a red card in the previous group match.
Opposition lowdown
The Leeds youngsters won their opening fixture in the competition, recording a 5-3 victory against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park despite playing the final 21 minutes with 10 men.
Their starting line-up that day was worth a staggering £13.45million in reported transfer fees, with appearances in this season’s Premier League and Champions League.
Michael Skubala’s side have played a game fewer than the Whites after their clash with Crewe was postponed due to youth international call-ups. That fixture will now be played on Tuesday, November 1 at the Mornflake Stadium.
They are currently top of the Premier League 2 second tier, having won six of their opening seven matches since the start of the campaign.
