Lloyd Isgrove is set to start against Leeds United Under-21s in the Papa Johns Trophy and could also feature against Accrington Stanley at the weekend.
Conor Bradley has been a regular at right wing-back this season but is unavailable for the trip to the Wham Stadium due to suspension, having picked up a fifth yellow card of the season in the goalless draw against Barnsley.
Ian Evatt’s men currently sit at the top of Group B and could secure their place in the knockout rounds against the Leeds youngsters.
Isgrove made his first-team comeback in the 2-2 draw against Tranmere Rovers last month, coming off the bench for the final half hour.
He has also made several appearances at wing-back for the B Team this season, most recently in the 2-1 win against Lincoln City Reserves.
Evatt has been impressed with the Welshman’s physical data after a difficult spell with injuries and believes he is ready for the challenge of League One football.
“Lloyd was back fit and available probably the same time as Josh Sheehan,” he said.
“The difference being really that Izzy had that plantar fasciitis which set him back a couple more weeks.
“Izzy will play on Tuesday in the game against Leeds. He played in the B Team game the other day, had a wonderful assist, and his physical data was off the chart.
“I think he ran nearly 12km and in 90 minutes, which says he is there and ready to go, especially in that position.”
Northern Irish international Bradley has been one of the Whites’ standout performers since his arrival at the UniBol.
The 19-year-old has received lots of praise over the past few months, with Barnsley boss Michael Duff describing his performance as “excellent” at the weekend.
“Obviously, Conor is flying at the minute,” the Bolton chief added.
“It was inevitable that he would pick up that fifth sooner rather than later, especially the amount of yellow cards that referees tend to dish out nowadays, so we’re getting Izzy ready to go and I think he is almost there.”
