WANDERERS (3-4-1-2)

JAMES TRAFFORD…7.5.

Didn’t deserve to be on the losing side for the quality of that one save alone. Did everything expected of him on the night and can hold his head up high.

WILL AIMSON…5.

Not the return to the side he would have liked. Tried to get forward and help Jones but made little inroad. Defensively, he didn’t win as much as he needed to on the night.

RICARDO SANTOS…6.

Nlundulu was arguably Cheltenham’s most effective player but not because Santos made any particular mis-steps. Did not let anything in behind him.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.

Like Santos, his defending was actually quite effective. Johnston’s main issue was that he struggled to pick the right pass going forward at times.

GETHIN JONES…5.

Moved back to the wider position on the right and perhaps it showed. Jones is better on the ball than he showed at Whaddon Road.

MJ WILLIAMS…6.5.

Probably the outfield player who suited the conditions best. Quiet for the first half an hour but quite effective after that.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Had a good spell either side of half time but suffered for a lack of space. Brought off in the end for his own protection after a fiery clash with Norton.

JACK IREDALE…5.

It has been a great start to the season for the Australian but up against the pacy Jackson he struggled to balance defensive responsibility and attacking duties.

KYLE DEMPSEY…6.

Looked tailor made for his hard running and busy style and Dempsey was probably Bolton’s best player in the first half. His effectiveness waned as time went on, though.

JON DADI BODVARSSON…5.5.

Wanderers had to go direct but Bodvarsson too often found himself running towards the corners where he couldn’t do any damage. Struggled against the sizeable Cheltenham defenders.

DION CHARLES…5.5.

Ran hard, as you’d expect, but starved of any real quality service. The home centre-halves, Freestone and Taylor, were able to muscle him off the ball.

Subs: Afolayan 5, 61 (for Dempsey) – The intent was there, the execution not.

Sadlier 4, 61 (for Aimson) – Forced that late pass, ending in a winner for the Robins.

Kachunga 4, 70 (for Charles) – Claimed a penalty but had little impact.

Bakayoko 4, 70 (for Bodvarsson) – Had very little say on the final 20 minutes.

Morley 72 (for Thomason) – One wayward shot. Little else.

Not used: Sadlier, Sheehan, Beck.
