Several players left Wanderers over the summer, but how are they getting on at their respective new clubs?

Liam Gordon

Gordon was snapped up by League Two side Walsall following his release by Wanderers, but the pacy full-back had to watch from the sidelines after suffering a “bizarre” foot injury in training.

The 23-year-old finally made his debut in a 2-1 defeat against Cheltenham Town in the Papa John’s Trophy last week, coming off the bench for the final 23 minutes.

“It was the best feeling being back out there with the boys and being able to play. I have been waiting ages for this opportunity and this moment so I am delighted for it,” he said.

“For me to get injured at the start of pre-season and to not be involved with the group and a new squad, it has been hard mentally and physically.

“It has been a long journey but hopefully I am now back out there with the boys and I can have a clean run for the rest of the season.”

Gordon also came off the bench in the 1-0 loss against Tranmere Rovers over the weekend, playing most of the second half.

Ronan Darcy

Darcy quit Wanderers to join Swindon Town over the summer, putting pen to paper over a two-year deal at the County Ground.

The young midfielder has so far made seven starts for the Robins and got his first goal in the 2-1 win against Grimsby at the weekend, slotting home from close range.

"I am over the moon to get my first goal for the club," he said. "I said when I first signed I would like to add a lot more goals and assists to my game. I think slowly it is coming, but there is a lot more to come.

Swindon are currently eighth in the League Two table, just a single point off the play-off places at this early stage .

Nathan Delfouneso

Delfouneso had been without a club following his departure from the UniBol until last week, when he signed for League One rivals Accrington Stanley on a short-term deal.

The experienced forward made his debut on the same day, starting the goalless draw against Salford City in the Papa John’s Trophy.

After joining the Reds, Delfouneso said: “I have been in the game a long time but I have still got a lot to do in the game and I can pass on my experience to the younger players.

"I have a lot left in me after a difficult past 18 months, I am eager and motivated and itching to get going and produce what I know I can.

"I am happy and hopefully I can show my team-mates and the fans what I can do. I am here to help the team and push them up the league."

Alex Baptiste

Baptiste joined Waterford last month after turning down the offer of a coaching role at Bolton to extend his playing career.

The experienced centre-back made his first start for the League of Ireland First Division club during the 3-0 win against Bray Wanderers over the weekend.

He also featured in the 3-2 win against Dundalk in the FAI Cup quarter-final earlier this month, coming off the bench for the 17 minutes.

Waterford will now host top-flight side Shelbourne in the semi-final, which will be played on Sunday, October 16.

Elsewhere, Liam Edwards joined non-league Chester following his release by Wanderers but is currently unavailable due to injury.

Jay Fitzmartin has made a strong start to the season at Atherton Collieries, scoring in the recent derby win against Atherton Laburnum Rovers and also claiming the club’s goal of the month award for a brilliant solo effort against Witton Albion.

However, Reiss Greenidge and Matt Alexander are yet to find new clubs after leaving the UniBol at the end of their contracts.
