WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).
JOEL DIXON…5.
Will be disappointed to have been beaten at such range by Morris in the first half. No worse a performance than a handful of others on the night, though.
EOIN TOAL…5.5.
Not nearly as comfortable a night as he had against Crewe in the first group game. Needs to settle down a little in possession.
WILL AIMSON…5.5.
Had a few good moments, defending bravely close to goal, and should be forgiven a touch of rustiness. His positioning and work on the ball was not up to scratch.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.
The only survivor from Saturday and, like Aimson, put in some big blocks in front of his own goal. He lacked any sort of energy to move out with the ball, though.
OWEN BECK…6.
Technically, his work in possession was sound. He got into some good positions but made some poor choices once he got there.
AARON MORLEY…5.
Better than this. Just had no zip about him, and as a result Bolton struggled to play the ball though midfield at any sort of pace.
JOSH SHEEHAN…6.
Didn’t see anywhere near enough of the ball but at least showed some intent and tested the keeper with a free kick.
DECLAN JOHN…5.
Got a difficult hand playing on the right side and looked infinitely more comfortable when he moved over to the opposite flank second half.
KIERAN SADLIER…6.
Took his goal superbly and put in a couple of dangerous crosses – but Bolton needed more from him, particularly in the first half.
DAPO AFOLAYAN…5.
Looked well off sorts, which is a shame considering he had grabbed a goal at the weekend. Not the type of performance to guarantee a first team return.
JON BODVARSSON…6.
Improved dramatically in the second half. Still feeling his way back from injury, so you can forgive a modicum of ring-rustiness.
