WANDERERS will come across a former transfer target when they go to Cheltenham Town this weekend.
Southampton striker Daniel N’Lundulu was on Bolton’s radar after they were promoted from League Two – eventually going out on loan to Lincoln City.
Already boasting Premier League experience with the Saints, the England youth international has since had two stints with Cheltenham Town and will line up in an attack Ian Evatt believes should not be underestimated this weekend.
“They have got some good players,” said the Bolton boss. “Obviously, Wade (Elliott) is trying to find his own way and wants to put his own stamp on things.
“I hope he is given the time to do that, he is a good football person. I have known him for a long time and played against him a lot. Hopefully, he will get the correct amount of time to put his own stamp on things there.
“Alfie May is a good threat, [Daniel] N’Lundulu is a player that we were aware of and looked at last season. They have good players all along the pitch, really.
“We know kind of what to expect and for us, it is respecting the opposition first and foremost, but then making sure we are energised and have the same performance in and out of possession as we did last Saturday.”
Evatt says his team has felt the benefit of a full week on the training ground, somewhat of a rarity after a congested August.
Lloyd Isgrove, Josh Sheehan and Eoin Toal were excluded from the B Team squad in midweek to take part in a first team inter-squad friendly, in what the manager believes was a worthwhile exercise.
“To work on the training pitch, I think the last two days have been exceptional the way we have trained,” he said. “We can pitch two elevens against each other and it is really competitive.
“The quality is excellent, and it is fantastic for the players. They are learning so much. We can challenge them in different ways. When you have got two elevens that are highly competitive and of a good and similar standard, you can really benefit from training days, and I think we have really benefitted from the last two.”
