Crewe Alexandra boss Alex Morris wants his side to build on their positive start ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Wanderers.
Morris side are currently seventh in the League Two table, having picked up 11 points from their opening six matches.
The Railwaymen enter the game on the back of a goalless draw against Bradford City, which Morris hailed as their “best performance of the season”.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “We saw things we haven’t seen in other games - we had more control in terms of possession in both halves of the pitch, we created chances and the defending was outstanding.
“It was a pretty complete performance and it’s just a shame we couldn’t have nicked a goal, but we can’t be greedy after the setback we had last week [letting a two-goal lead slip against Northampton].
“The players responded to that magnificently. We have shown we have learned and evolved from that, and that’s what this group is going to continue to do.
“We will get dips, but as the season goes on, we will show more and more with the ball. Without the ball, it’s not a worry because this group gives absolutely everything.
“We were all hurting last week but these boys will do anything for you. If you ask them to run through a brick wall they will ask, ‘How many times?’
“They are a sensational group who want to do well for the club.”
Wanderers recorded a 1-0 victory when the sides last met back in March thanks to Amadou Bakayoko’s late winner.
The Whites also came out on top at the UniBol last November, with Josh Sheehan and Bakayoko on target in a 2-0 victory.
Ian Evatt’s men reached the round of 16 last season but missed out on a quarter-final spot following a 1-0 defeat at Hartlepool United.
Meanwhile, Crewe made it to the last eight after winning Group C with a 100 per cent record but were eventually knocked out by Rotherham United.
