Ronan Darcy says joining leaving Wanderers to join Swindon was “the right step” in his career.
Darcy completed a move to the Wiltshire club after a successful trail period, ending a 14-year association with the Whites.
The 21-year-old midfielder hopes he can build on what he has learned at the UniBol in his next chapter.
“Bolton made me the player I am today, obviously I had been there for many years,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
“I just think it is the right step for me now and everything I’ve learned there, I think I can definitely bring to the team.
“Whether that’s creating – goals, assists – once I get going, I know I will shine.”
Darcy joined Wanderers’ ranks at the age of seven and was the last remaining member of the Junior Whites who started against Coventry in August 2019.
The youngster had been offered the chance to continue his development in the Whites' B Team set-up but it is understood he wanted the assurance of regular senior football.
He added: “I am over the moon. I can’t put into words how happy I am to be here.
“I met the lads the last two weeks and played a few games. It’s perfect for me, it’s the right place for me. I can’t wait to get going.
“(I want) to be a regular starter. I want to get myself in the team and impress everyone week in, week out and work hard – I always do.
“I want to get people standing up out of their seats. I would like to add a lot more goals and assists to my game, hopefully that comes with game time.”
Darcy is looking forward to working with new Swindon boss Scott Lindsey and hopes the side can push towards the top end of League Two over the coming season.
“I have seen it on the training round now and in the games we have previously played, you can see how we want to play,” he explained.
“It is attractive football and the lads he has brought in as well. Once we get going, it will be special.
“The sky is the limit. I think we can really push on. Obviously, everyone wants promotion – that is the aim and I wouldn’t put it past us.
“The lads are great. We just need to set the standards now in training week in, week out and as soon as the season comes, we go from there.”
