Former Wanderers goalkeeper Mark Howard has linked up with Phil Parkinson at National League Wrexham.

Howard joined the Whites in the summer of 2016 and went on to make 39 appearances during two seasons.

The experienced goalkeeper was a free agent following his release by Carlisle United over the summer.

Howard is looking forward to working with Parkinson again and is determined to help the Welsh club reach the Football League.

“I’ve been speaking to Phil for a few days now. I’m thrilled to get it finally done and dusted and I can’t wait to get going,” he told the club’s website.

“I love playing in front of full attendances and a lot of crowd, and that was something that really attracted me to Wrexham.

“To have this opportunity to play in front of these fans, it will be exciting. There is only one aim for this season now, and that is to get promoted.”

Wrexham finished second in the National League last season but missed out on promotion after suffering a 5-4 defeat against Grimsby Town in the play-offs.

Parkinson added: “Mark is an experienced goalkeeper who I worked with at Bolton, and he was Player of the Season at Carlisle last year. He has a lot of league experience and will be a great addition.

“He’s a confident lad and a strong character who will offer strong leadership qualities in the dressing room too.”
