WANDERERS (3-4-1-2).

JAMES TRAFFORD…6.

Will be asking how McClean’s cross ended up in the back of his net – but potentially an issue in front of him, rather than the blame lying at his door.

WILL AIMSON…5.5.

Supplied the killer cross for Bodvarsson’s equalsier but the centre-half struggled in possession for a lot of the game.

RICARDO SANTOS…6.

Magennis had the better of him for 30 minutes, and though he eventually woke up and improved dramatically there is still improvement to be made.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…7.

Definitely the most effective member of the back three. Used the ball well enough when he stepped into midfield.

GETHIN JONES…6.5.

Solid return against the dangerous McClean. Early pressure soon subsided and Jones was able to link up with his strikers and make a dent further forward.

MJ WILLIAMS…5.5.

Got lost a little against League One’s most tenacious midfield. Slow to some of the second balls in the first half an hour, which put his side under pressure.

AARON MORLEY…6.

Looked better after dropping deeper into midfield in the second half. Caught up in the furore early on but regained his composure.

KIERAN SADLIER…6.

Switched to the left side in the absence of Declan John but couldn’t get himself into advances areas quite as often as Jones managed on the right.

DAPO AFOLAYAN…7.5.

Dapo back to his spiky best, drawing challenges, beating defenders, making the home crowd love to hate him. Big game player.

DION CHARLES…5.5.

You have to feel for him. Looked isolated in the first half and while he chased back, he touched the ball just seven times.

ELIAS KACHUNGA…5.5.

Dropped deeper and deeper in an effort to link things up in the first half but it really wasn’t his game.

Subs: Bodvarsson 7.5, 55 (for Kachunga) – Changed the game in Bolton’s favour and produced the one real moment of class.

Bakayoko 6, 64 (for Charles) – Got more involved in the game than Charles had been able to do.

Dempsey 7, 65 (for Williams) – Always looked to be positive on the ball, driving Bolton forward.

Not used: Amaechi, Thomason, Baptiste, Gordon.

Wigan Athletic (3-4-1-2): Amos; Kerr, Whatmough, Tilt; Darikwa, Power, Naylor, McClean; Keane; Lang, Magennis.

Subs: Humphrys 77 (for Magennis), Edwards 89 (for Lang), Watts 90+3 (for Tilt).

Not used: Jones, Massey, Shinnie, Bennett.

Referee: Samuel Barrott – 5/10: May well have been let down by his linesman, whose reading of the McClean/Afolayan situation seemed way off the mark. Didn’t make any massive errors other than that one… But it was enough.
