FORMER Wanderers boss Owen Coyle is poised to take over at Scottish club Queen’s Park after ending a successful spell in India.
Coyle joined Jamshedspur in the summer of 2020 and led the club to their first-ever league title last month.
But the Scot has announced he will be leaving the Indian Super League and is now set to return to Scottish football with Queens.
The Spiders sacked Laurie Ellis back in December, with director of football Marjin Beuker taking charge on an interim basis over the past few months.
Queens are currently fourth in the third tier of Scottish football, having lost just five matches all season.
Among the players Coyle will inherit are Wanderers loanee Ronan Darcy and ex-Bolton academy midfielder Luca Connell, who is on loan from Celtic.
Coyle will also link-up again with his former Bolton assistant, Sandy Stewart.
“I have had two absolutely wonderful years with Jamshedpur. The people I met and the relationships we forged are among the best I have had in football,” the 55-year-old said in a statement.
“So it’s with a heavy heart, I tell you that I won’t be continuing this journey together as I have had to return home for family reasons.
“If I am to return to India in the future, we have agreed that Jamshedpur will be my first choice to work at if my services are required at that time.”
Coyle’s last management role in Scotland was at Ross County, where he resigned after just five months in charge with the club three points adrift at the foot of the table.
Jamshedpur CEO Mukul Choudhari added: "We are extremely thankful to Owen for what he has done for the club.
“He has made a gargantuan impact, one which will be remembered forever and etched in the club's history as he led Jamshedpur FC to win its first ever honour by winning the ISL League Winners' Shield.
“We are sad of course, just like any other fan, that he won't be continuing with us next season.
“But I am happy to see a strong base being built for Jamshedpur FC's future thanks to Owen and his staff.”
Queens are back in league action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Clyde to the Firhill Stadium (KO 3pm).
