IAN Evatt says he has made some of his players aware of loan offers on Deadline Day – but will not be shoving anyone out of the door.
Nathan Delfouneso is understood to be one of the fringe stars who has an option to leave Bolton on loan today.
But the striker may choose to see out the remaining six months of his contract at the UniBol in the hope he can force his way back into Evatt’s plans.
Speaking at this morning’s press conference, the Bolton boss said he would bide by the players’ wishes.
“We are not the kind of club which will force people out or make them feel uncomfortable,” he said. “We have been straight with people and told them the situation they stand in, especially with the people we are bringing to the squad.
“It is then their choice whether they sit here and ride it out or go out and play. We can only provide them with options, then it is down to them to make a decision.
“We wont be one of those clubs that makes people train at stupid times of the day or on their own. We will tell people what their options are, and it is up to them to say what suits them.”
Wanderers had been examining options in the loan market if their long-running pursuit of Kyle Dempsey fell short but Evatt confirmed today that he will not sign anyone who cannot immediately challenge for a first team spot.
“Where we are at, and who is available, we can afford to be over-choosy,” he said. “I don’t want to take someone for the sake of it, just to make up the numbers. We feel Kyle will do that.
“If it isn’t him, it might not be anyone else. We may sit tight.
“We are getting a squad together which is young enough to improve together with coaching. We have them nailed down to good contracts and we don’t need to go from window to window making huge changes.”
Rumours that Liam Gordon could be sent out on loan have also been nipped in the bud.
“Absolutely not - we are very happy with Liam,” he said. “He is a young player who is still developing, and we’re pleased with him. He won’t be going out and we won’t be bringing anyone else in (in that position).”
