IAN Evatt has dropped some major hints about his next two signings in the January transfer market.
The Wanderers boss spoke about changing his attacking transfer plans on Thursday in the light of Elias Kachunga picking up a thigh injury which will keep him out of action for at least two months.
Wanderers have already loaned three players this window extending Xav Amaechi’s deal from Hamburg and adding Marlon Fossey (Fulham) and James Trafford (Manchester City).
They hope to add one more attacking player on loan and expect to hear back from his parent club in the next few days.
Gillingham’s Kyle Dempsey is also on the wanted list, with a second bid submitted to the League One club earlier this week.
Kachunga’s injury, admitted Evatt, has affected what he needs from his incoming attacker.
“It has changed the plans slightly,” he said. “One player we wanted from August and tried to get again at the start of this window was told he was available, available, available, then Bolton want you, then you’re not available. That happens, sometimes.
“With the Covid situation clubs are trying to hang on to their squad depth in case the worst happens and they need to change things around.
“The two we are trying to bring in now hopefully won’t suffer for that and we can get them in the building to make us better.”
Asked for an update on the progress of his two bids, Evatt told the local press on Thursday: “One we have made an offer for, it has been in for 24 hours now and we haven’t heard anything back,” he said. “I am taking it as good news because the first one was rejected out of sight. No news is good news and hopefully they are having a good think about it.
“The second one, he’s away on international camp at the moment and we’re trying our best to get it done. It is complicated because he is on a pretty big salary with his parent club.
“Do I think they will be done this weekend? No. Next? Maybe. Hopefully.”
