WANDERERS (4-2-3-1).
JOEL DIXON…6.5.
Made a good save from Williams in the second half to keep Crewe from getting a foothold but did have a few issues in wet and slippery conditions.
LLOYD ISGROVE…8.
A bundle of energy on the right. A reluctant full-back, perhaps, but one who is doing a diligent job for his team in the circumstances.
RICARDO SANTOS…7.
Definitely more like his old self but won’t get many easier nights in this division. Dominated the Crewe front line, physically, and used the ball sensibly.
WILL AIMSON…7.
Strong and showed a good range of passing at times, particularly as Bolton tried to exploit the space on the right flank with Kachunga and Isgrove.
DECLAN JOHN…6.5.
Saw lots of the ball as Wanderers tried to keep things as wide as they could – and John put in a couple of dangerous crosses.
MJ WILLIAMS…6.5.
Very tidy on the night and kept his discipline as the defensive anchor as Evatt changed the midfield shape a couple of times during the game.
JOSH SHEEHAN…6.5.
Grew into the game and looked more involved when he was pushed up alongside Lee. Set pieces still need work but confidence was there to take the penalty.
ELIAS KACHUNGA…7.
Another sign that Kachunga’s match sharpness is improving and he was arguably Bolton’s most effective player in the second half.
KIERAN LEE…6.5.
Had one reasonable chance in the first half but otherwise felt on the fringes of the game. Looked much busier after the break.
DAPO AFOLAYAN…6.5.
Not his most spectacular night but still worries opponents every time he gets the ball. Learning to time runs in behind the centre backs a little better too.
AMADOU BAKAYOKO…7.
Didn’t really go for him in the first half but, due credit, he kept working hard and got his reward by winning the penalty and then finishing off a good move for the second.
Subs: Amaechi 86 (for Bakayoko) – Great to see him back in action.
Not used: Gilks, Johnston, Delfouneso, Thomason, Baptiste, Gordon.
Crewe (4-3-3): Richards; Adebisi, Offord, McFadzean, Thomas; Lowery, Williams, Robertson; Long, Mandron, Gomes.
Subs: Kashket 70 (for Long), Porter 75 (for Mandron).
Not used: Jaaskelainen, Finney, Murphy, Griffiths, Lundstram.
Referee: James Bell 5/10 – Some genuinely odd decision making early on. Card happy in the first half an hour, then quite oblivious to foul play the next.
Attendance: 13,804 (808).
