MATT Alexander is on the verge of leaving Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan, The Bolton News understands.
The young goalkeeper played for Lancaster City against Longridge Town at the weekend and will formally complete his move to the Northern Premier League club this week.
As Saturday’s game was deemed a friendly, Alexander did not need to be registered, but both clubs are expected to announce the terms of the deal soon.
Alexander has two senior appearances under his belt for Wanderers and kept a clean sheet against Coventry City on his full debut in August 2019.
He then featured in a 1-1 draw against Bradford City which was decided on penalties the following month in the EFL Trophy and spent the rest of the season as understudy to Remi Matthews.
Last season the 19-year-old again worked regularly with the first team but had fewer appearances on the bench.
Wanderers have opted to get him some senior football experience, leaving Matt Gilks, Joel Dixon and Luke Hutchinson as the current goalkeeping options.
