BURNDEN were represented at the Alpe D,Huez Triathlon when Ged Turner travelled to the Central French Western Alps to take part in the testing event.
It is described as a unique triathlon, held in magnificent surroundings and listed on several occasions among the most beautiful in the world.
The 'unique' tag is because the swimming contest is held in the crystal clear waters of the Lac du Verney, exclusively open to athletes during the competition.
The event was challenging as the waters were nearer to 20°C than the usual 15°C.
However, Turner completed the swim in 48mins 8secs, the bike ride in 2:39:52 and the run in 52:56 – with an overall time of 4:32:10.
Andy Dunleavy claimed first V60 at the Riverside 10-mile race in Lancaster, recording a time of 1:10:54.
The event turned into a good family day out as Cheryl Dunleavy marked the occasion with an ever-improving time of 2:01:46.
Mark Jackson returned to the Scorcher series to run the marathon on consecutive weekends. He continued his consistency in marathon running, recording a time of 4:11:22 after a 4:08:00 the previous weekend.
During the week, hardy fell enthusiasts Mark Butler and David Morrison tackled the tough Lee Mill Fell Race which included 1,089 feet of climb within the 10k course.
Butler recorded a time of 1:26:57 before Morrison clocked 1:37:16.
