FORMER Wanderers assistant Phil Brown has landed a new job in India.
The 59-year-old has been appointed as the new head coach of Pune FC in the Indian Super League, and will be assisted by another ex-Bolton star, Aidan Davison.
Brown will have just six games to try and guide seventh-placed Pune into the play-offs, and will commence his coaching duties at the end of January when the league starts up after the winter break.
He is also expected to oversee the Super Cup competition, which runs from March to April.
Among the players in the Pune squad is ex-Wanderers defender Matt Mills and former Tranmere and Leicester City winger Iain Hume.
Brown, a former manager at Hull City, Southend United and Swindon Town, is looking forward to trying to kickstart the club’s season.
“FC Pune City has been having a difficult season but I am optimistic about taking up this job as the points table really isn’t the real representation of the talent that’s existing at the club.
"The potential at the club is exciting and I am really looking forward for the season with FC Pune City,” said Brown, who played 332 games for Wanderers and was also a major part of Sam Allardyce's Premier League backroom.
