THE Premier Division game of the day was Old Boltonians’ 4-4 draw at Rochdale St Clements, a result that keeps Steve Eccleshare’s side at the top of the table.
Sean Rushton and Matt McLellan each hit the net twice for the leaders.
Following a 5-1 thrashing of Bury GSOB in midweek, the free-scoring Bolts have found the net 12 times in three outings and, although their 100 per cent record has ended, they are a point clear at the head of the table. Old Bolts face Old Blackburnians at Tower Street tomorrow evening.
Horwich St Mary’s Victoria brought home a point from Prestwich from a 2-2 draw after twice pegging back their hosts, who had a penalty saved late in the game.
Prestwich led twice but Horwich got back on terms with equalisers two minutes before half time and five minutes from the end to secure a draw that puts them in fifth place ahead of their game at home to Roach Dynamos tomorrow.
Blackrod Town also drew 2-2 away from home, Mark Hartley and Rob McClure scoring at Old Blackburnians.
Jack Paton’s team got their first win of the campaign on Wednesday, when Alex Leigh scored the only goal of the game against St Clements. They face Howe Bridge tomorrow night.
After beating Bury GSOB 3-1 on the opening day of the season, Little Lever fell to a defeat by the same scoreline this weekend, beaten by visitors Old Mancunians.
One of the few top-flight sides not in action tomorrow night, Little Lever will host the derby with Horwich St Mary’s Victoria on Saturday.
In Division One Bolton Wyresdale beat Failsworth Dynamos’ reserves 4-1 with Kieran Rayner (two), Mathew Cain and Mark Grundy scoring.
