YOUNGSTERS George Newell and Alex Samizadeh were on the scoresheet as Wanderers Under-23s’ development side drew 2-2 at Crewe Alexandra today.
It was the first U23 Professional Development League outing of the new year for David Lee’s side and the starting line-up included five first-teamers – Max Clayton, Liam Trotter, Derik Osede, Chris Taylor and Dean Moxey.
Newell put the Whites ahead on 14 minutes after a neat pass from Trotter and the lead could have been doubled had Callum Spooner’s 25-yard effort not hit the post.
After the interval, it took the hosts just 11 minutes to draw level through substitute Callum Saunders and he netted a second 18 minutes from time.
But the lead was short-lived as Whites substitute Samizadeh fired home four minutes later after a mistake by Crewe stopper David Richards to seal a point.
