The demand for virtual reality gaming has increased in the last 12 months, GAME has revealed.
According to the high street store this demand has been propelled by the pandemic and shows no signs of slowing down.
To save you shopping around, this new research conducted by GAME has analysed Google search volumes and market share data to unveil which console is the best for you and your loved ones.
The most popular VR devices according to monthly searches were:
- Oculus Quest 2
- Oculus Quest
- PlayStation VR
- Valve Index
- HP Reverb G2
- HTC Vive Cosmo
The Oculus Quest 2 is currently the most sought-after VR headset with over 22,000 monthly searches and a further 12,100 for 'VR Quest 2', making Oculus the most in-demand VR console this festive season.
Following is the PlayStation VR headset. Released in 2016, the headset was designed to work alongside the PlayStation 4 but also offers forwards compatibility with the new generation PlayStation 5.
PlayStations’ popularity outside of the VR gaming market makes this unsurprising, with current customers searching for console compatible virtual reality equipment. However, with the speed that Oculus is evolving, it will be hard for any brand to keep up.
Virtual reality isn’t just popular within gaming. It can also be used creatively in education as well as in workforce training.
Virtual reality headsets are set to be high on Christmas wish lists this year.
