Deansgate in Manchester city centre has now been re-opened after a crash caused chaos for commuters.
Police were called to the junction of Deansgate and Queen Street following reports of a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a motorbike at 6.50am.
The rider of the bike has been taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury.
The woman driving the Corsa, who is aged in her early 20s and from the Salford area, was not injured in the collision, but was left shaken.
Deansgate was closed between John Dalton Street and Peter Street while the incident wais dealt with.
Anyone who may have seen the collision is asked to contact traffic officers at the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 3572/4.
