THE quiet of Bolton Central Library will be swapped for the sound of rock music when two local bands play a gig there.
Pancho Ballard and the Banditos and Minions of Jeffrey will perform acoustic sets among the bookshelves to celebrate John Peel Day on Thursday.
It is part of a national event to celebrate the life of the popular Radio 1 DJ who died two years ago..
Bolton Council's executive member for culture and community services Cllr Ismail Ibrahim said: "This is the first time a rock music event has been held in Bolton's Central Library and it will certainly challenge the traditional image of libraries.
"We hope that people of all ages and backgrounds will come along to enjoy the music at this event, which is the latest in a series of developments aiming to bring Bolton's libraries into the 21st century and make them accessible and appealing to all Bolton's residents."
The bands will be performing between 6pm and 7pm.
