OWEN Coyle will not turn tinkerman in the FA Cup tomorrow – even with Wanderers still facing a fight for Premier League survival.

After making sweeping changes in both ties against Macclesfield Town in the third round, the Whites boss is keen to maintain momentum gained after last weekend’s thrilling victory over Liverpool.

And as such, he has pledged to keep alterations to a minimum as top-flight rivals Swansea City head to the Reebok looking to book a place in the last 16.

Safety remains the top priority for Coyle and Wanderers, but even given the close proximity of Arsenal’s visit on Wednesday night, the Scot will send his players out asking them to leave nothing on the pitch against the Swans.

“We love the cup,” he said. “We got to the semi-finals last year and we were disappointed with how it finished for us, so Saturday is an opportunity to reach the last 16 and it’s one I want to take.

“We’ve shown, which was long overdue, the level of performance we can give at the Reebok. We’ve got to repeat that now and give the same level as we did against Liverpool – maybe that gives you some clue as to team selection. We want to keep that going.

“The best way to put it would be that I won’t have anywhere near the same number of changes as I did in the previous two cup games. They will be minimal.”

Jussi Jaaskelainen returned to training this week but Coyle is still likely to keep faith with Adam Bogdan in goal.

Joe Riley and Tuncay are the two players most likely to come into the equation, but while a stomach bug has swept round the camp this week, a fully fit squad reported for training at Euxton on Thursday, barring long-term casualties.

Coyle has been impressed by Swansea, who beat Wanderers earlier this season at the Liberty Stadium.

But the Welshmen have been less impressive on their travels, winning just once in 11 league games.

They have also been weakened with the news that consistent centre-back Steven Caulker has been told he cannot play at the Reebok by his parent club Tottenham.

“Swansea have been playing well and beat Arsenal the other week, getting unbelievable plaudits, and rightly so,” said Coyle. “It was the same with us beating Liverpool, except we didn’t get the plaudits.

“Brendan (Rogers) has done a terrific job there and outside football he’s a top class guy. All credit to him.

“But as good as Swansea have been, we have taken more points in our last six Premier League games.”
