BURNING Desire jumped up four places in the Premier Division to a mid-table spot after their trio Ben Armstrong, Ian Quinn and Kevin Chapman scored maximum points at bottom club Ramsbottom D.
leaders Ramsbottom A claimed maximum points at St Catherine’s A who had to forfeit the match due to a problem at their premises.
Brian Clements trebled for Ramsbottom B who won 6- 3 at Ladybridge, as did Ron Durose for Little Lever A who beat Hilton A 7-2. Flixton continued their unbeaten run with an 8-1 victory over Wharton, with three wins by Phil Biggs and John Hilton.
It is tight at the top of Division One where Nomads B now share top spot with Heaton A, although Nomads, who crushed their C team 8-1 with Lee Devenport and Brett Haslam unbeaten, have a match in hand. Heaton beat third-placed Nomads A, whose Dennis Collier was unbeaten.
Dave Andrews trebled for Hilton B who defeated Wingates 5-4, as did Ken Connor for Hilton C but his team lost to Standish by the same score. Three wins by Alan Auxilly gave Meadow Bank their first victory of the season at Heaton B.
Division Two’s top two, Farnworth TTC A and Heaton C, recorded 8-1 wins. Leaders Farnworth, nine points clear, beat Heaton A with trebles by Craig Johnson and Graham Clayborough, while Paul McCormick and Mel Brookes were unbeaten for Heaton C. Alex Waring trebled for Ladybridge B who won 6-3 at Little Lever C, as did Hilton D’s Tony Eardley, Wieslaw Krzyzewski and Gary Hilton to take maximum points against Heaton D. Unbeaten Division Three leaders Meadow BEN B thrashed Ladybridge C 8-1, with trebles by James Bollard and Mike Audsley. St Paul’s Peel A, two points behind the leaders, won 7-2 at Meadow Hill with three wins by Mick Murray. Brian Hall won his usual three in Hilton H’s 7-2 triumph at Farnworth SC, as did Neil Unsworth for Walkden Meths who beat Boyzone 6-3. Farnworth TTC C’s 7-2 win at Hilton included a treble by Josh Sandford, while Graham Wilson was unbeaten for Hilton J who beat Irlam 6-3. Heaton E soldier on at the top of Division Four as Phil Beales, Dave Jones and Geoff Harris scored maximum points against Farnworth TTC D, which gives them a six-point advantage over Brass who lost 5-4 at Lostock TC whose John Nuttall scored three. Harper Green won 6- 3 at St Paul’s Peel B with three wins by Arbaz Shubeer, while Hilton K thumped BL&GC A 8-1 thanks to trebles from Tom Healey and Matt Fishwick.
