THE life of a housing association employee — who was killed while on volunteer work in Tanzania — has been celebrated.

Jane Pritchard worked in Bolton as head of communications for Regenda Housing and colleagues organised a fundraising walk in her memory. The walk, held in Rivington, raised £600 for Homeless International, the cause Miss Pritchard was working for when she was killed in a road accident in February.

The 37-year-old died just three days before she was scheduled to return to the UK.

Miss Pritchard had taken a 10-day holiday from her job to work with Homeless International which helps those living in poverty.

Sixty of her colleagues took part in the sponsored walk. Among them were her sister, Adele Harper, and mother and father, Jean and Alan Nokes. Her mother said: “It was a really special day and it was touching to see so many people there. Walking was something Jane really enjoyed, particularly in Rivington which has such beautiful scenery. We thank everyone who attended and made a donation. We never expected people to be so generous with their contributions.”

She spent her career in PR and communications and was also a trained counsellor, doing volunteer work at the Simeon Centre counselling service in Bolton.
