Bradshaw A won the BSF Junior Tennis League’s Howarth Cup after beating Eagley A in a dramatic final that went to the wire.
Kieran Almond and Scott Williams came from 4-2 down in the final, decisive set to clinch the victory that won the First Division team the match.
Fourth Division Eagley received a 53.5 games start in the handicapped event at Markland Hill, leaving them needing 19 games to win.
At the halfway point, Eagley had won 10 games and were just on target for victory, but it was clear that it was going to be a tight finish.
Bradshaw had the better of the next few sets, but as the last set was on court, the match was still undecided.
Eagley’s strongest pair, Andrew Seal and Adrian Rowland, were up against Almond and Williams and whoever won the set would win the match.
The underdogs from Eagley took an early lead and had a 4-2 advantage going into the closing stage of the set.
Almond and Williams rose to the occasion to take a 5-4 lead, but were pulled back again to 5-5 before producing a solid game to win the tie 73-70.5 and seal a memorable triumph.
In the league, Holcombe Brook A retained the Division One title with a 100 per cent record and only dropping 15.5 sets all season.
Charlie Foley and Luke Costello were their only everpresent players but Alec Foote, Matthew Boyle, Natalie Wall and Sarah Kidd have all played in at least eight of the 10 matches.
Holcombe Brook’s B team needed to win their last match of the season to be certain of retaining their place in Division One.
They managed it, but only just, winning 7-5 against bottom of the league Lostock A. Their win was crucial, as the side placed next to the bottom, Tyldesley A, crafted an unlikely 8.5-3.5 win over second-placed Bellingham A.
Hawkshaw A have bounced back from the disappointment of relegation last season to win Division Two. They needed to win their final match against Tyldesley B and strong performances from all the team, but in particular Jordan Jeys and Ryan Batty, secured a comfortable win.
The Division Three title was decided in the final match of the season, with Walmer taking the honours.
Barrow Bridge won Division Five easily with a 100 per cent record. Eagley B finished second after beating their rivals Hawkshaw C 7-5 in the final match.
Peter McGowan, Luke McMillan, Miranda Whitby and Lucy Ault won all their sets to clinch the victory for Eagley.
This season has seen a tremendous turn of fortune for the Eagley B team who have finished bottom of the pile for the previous five years.
