Turton have secured the Bolton Golf Association inter-club League A title after an impressive season that saw them finish streets ahead of the rest.
Their record of nine wins, two defeats and one half saw them top the table 13½ points clear of Dunscar, who have been in second spot all season.
Despite enjoying a fruitful start to the league campaign, Dunscar unfortunately stumbled towards the season’s close with four draws meaning they finished well off the pace.
They could still mathematically finish third, but only an unlikely 8-0 win for Westhoughton over Harwood tonight could affect Dunscar’s final position.
It was a different story in League B where the race for the top spot had been close all season, with Bolton and Old Links in contention right up to the final games.
It was to be Old Links’ year, however, with a 6-2 win at Chorley securing the title by just half a point.
Horwich had also had their own chances for success after beating Bolton early in the season, but unexpected defeats to Breightmet and Great Lever meant it developed into a two-horse race.
The semi-finals will take place at Chorley on Sunday, September 4, when Turton take on Bolton and Old Links play Dunscar.
The final will be held at Turton on Sunday, September 11.
