OWEN Coyle has dismissed claims that Jussi Jaaskelainen has turned down a contract extension at Wanderers.

The club are currently in negotiation with the Big Finn's representatives over a new deal but reports surfaced on Saturday night that he had walked away from talks, alerting clubs like Manchester City and Stoke City, who are currently on the lookout for a keeper.

Coyle claims discussions are still ongoing between the two parties – and is confident that a compromise will eventually be struck with the 36-year-old.

“I'm very relaxed with the situation regarding Jussi,” he said. “It's like any negotiation, you can't just click your fingers and expect it to be resolved.

“Jussi Jaaskelainen has been outstanding for Bolton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers have been outstanding for him. That's why it's a very good fit and I don't see that changing.”
