BOLTON over-45s enjoyed another victory over their Bury counterparts at Elton Vale.
The hosts opened the batting and any hopes of a big score were dashed as Bolton’s fantastic fielding restricted them to just 17 runs, four of whichwere bad balls.
The highest scorers were Chris Yates and Lynn Walker, who both scored three runs.
In reply, steady batting, with a top score of 24 from Maria Kirkman, ensured a sound 109 points for Bolton and, more importantly, a lead of 92 points.
Bury faced an uphill battle in their second knock and, with a top score of just 17 from J Wiggins, victory was never within their grasp as they folded to a match total of just 64.
The junior interleague teams meet at Elton Vale Sports Club on Friday in another exciting clash.
In the BSF League, Section E leaders Hough Fold Ladies and Daisy Hill CC A battled it out in an enthralling contest.
Batting first, Daisy Hill scored 95, led by last batters Rebecca Hannington with 27 and Ann Roughley 15.
In reply, Hough Fold’s best batter, Debbie Eustace, retired injured after scoring 17 and, with Lynn Whitham’s contribution of eleven, they finished with 59.
Daisy Hill added 50 in their second innings, leaving Hough Fold needing 87 for victory.
Nancy Delvard rose to the challenge and scored 24, Heidi Duff added 18 and last batter Dee Jethwa was denned after scoring eleven.
The stage was set for young Lucy Whitham, who scored a lifetime best of nine runs which proved extremely valuable as the section leaders recorded an unexpected three-run victory.
