Three Second Division teams, Heaton D, Heaton E and Little Lever D, plus Hilton F from Division Three, won through to the semi-finals of the George Yates Shield.
The closest finish in any cup match this season was recorded by Second Division Heaton D who beat Third Division Hilton I by 0.5 points.
Heaton D’s Paul McCormick, Chris Higson and Steve Woods gave Hilton I’s Minh Le, Andy Morey and Malcolm Rose 79 5 points start in this very close match.
Visiting Second Division team Heaton D gave Third Division St Paul’s Peel 58.5 points start and closed with an 11 points win.
Ian Westmoreland, Geoff Rushton and Mick Murray represented the home team, and Mike Dunn, Eric Shaw and Dev Bevitt figured for the away team The margin of the win in the match between Meadow Bank and fellow Division Two side Little Lever D was slightly larger at 33 points, which is less then one point for each game over the 36 games.
Little Lever’s Alan Lansdale, Mark Martin and Bob Waller received 44.5 points start from Meadow Bank’s Mike Brierley, Alan Auxillly and Paul Pover.
Third Division Hilton F beat top Division Two team Heaton C by a massive 96 points.
Hilton’s Roger Bertrand, Craig Duncan and Josh Sandford made good use of the 121 points start they received from Heaton’s two regular players, Duncan Kay and Bill Fairhurst plus sub Dave Jones.

Ron Hindle Memorial Trophy Semi-final draw, week commencing March 21: Harper Green v Lads & Girls Club A, Ladybridge C/Hit & Hope v Boyzone.
The semi-finals of the Warburton Cup will be contested by lower division teams for the first time in years.
The highest-placed team is Ladybridge B from Division Two, and they are joined by Hilton F and Hilton G from Division Three, and Harper Green from Division Four.
The lowest ranked team, Fourth Division Harper Green, had an impressive 14-point victory over Second Division Heaton E.
Their trio of James Storey, Levi Robinson and Peter McMinn made good use of their 135-point start to beat Heaton’s more experienced Mike Dunn, Eric Shaw and Dave Bevitt.
In the all-Second Division clash played from scratch, Ladybridge B’s Alex Waring, Steve Hathaway and Keith Butler recorded a 68-point win against Little Lever D’s Alan Lansdale, Mark Martin and Bob Waller.
Third Division side Hilton G beat their C team from Division two by a narrow margin of 24 points.
Their team of Barak Young, Brian Hall and Gary Hibbert received 44.5-point start which they used to good effect against Hilton C’s Alan Bradshaw, Tony Eardley and Gary Hilton.
Played from scratch, Hilton F ran out winners at Farnworth TTC B by a margin of 21 points.
The Hilton team fielded Roger Bertrand, Craig Duncan and Josh Sandford. Farnworth’s team included Sam Evans, Daniel Harris and Nathan Patel.
Hilton F meet Ladybridge B, and Hilton G will play Harper Green in the semi-finals in the week commencing March 21.
In the Brian Gittins Cup, Premier Division title contenders Flixton CC proved too strong for Division One Coburg. Flixton’s John Hilton, Phil Biggs and Jeff Craighill finished with a comfortable 78-point win despite giving Coburg’s Bob Bent, Jim Hewitt and George Mather 156 points start.
The all-Premier Division contest between Wharton and Radciffe CC saw Wharton’s Bob Jackson, Barry Elliott and Glen Payne scored a 45-point win against Radcliffe’s Wayne Renton, Rob Hall and Mick Dore.
Flixton CC meet Wharton and Nomads A or Standish will play Little Lever A in the semi-final in the week commencing March 21.
Little Lever A had a walkover against their C team, and the other quarter-final is to be contested between Nomads A and Standish.
