BOLTON United Harriers talent Marc Tillotson made it two wins on the trot as he took the honours in the Lostock 6 road race on Sunday.
He finished almost one minute ahead of Salford Harriers’ Rob Hughes as his 32:07mins followed on from his win last weekend in the Central Lancashire 5K at Leverhulme Park.
He will be bidding to make it three wins in as many weeks in Sunday’s Trotter’s Five at Smithills Hall.
The rain managed to hold off, but the field of runners still had to cope with blustery conditions, making the already tough six mile course slightly more difficult.
Second home for Bolton, and finishing 14th overall, was Steve Houghton (36:29), who continues to show improving form. Dave Shaw (38:14), Daryl Bentley (38:15) and Ben Scott (38:28) were not far behind as Bolton took third place in the men’s team result behind Horwich RMI and Astley and Tyldesley.
Bolton’s Daniel Johnson won the junior men’s category in 39:09, with second places in the V50 and V55 categories going to Gary Jones (39:30) and Ken Fowler (40:03) respectively.
Fine individual performances from Jayne Dickinson (45:33), Julie Lomax (48:43), Catherine Jones (48:47) and Claire Gettinby (54:10) meant Bolton finished second in the ladies team event behind Astley & Tyldesley, but took the win in the ladies vet section.
Burnden Roadrunners duo John Knowles and Anne Ferguson completed an impressive double at the weekend with excellent performances in the South East Lancs Cross Country race at Boggart Hole Clough on Saturday followed by the Lostock race the following day.
Both athletes showed their versatility and strength by running well in both disciplines with Knowles finishing sixth in the crosscountry (40:12) and also sixth at Lostock in an excellent time of 34:24.
Ferguson was 11th lady and second F50 at Boggart Hole (33:57) and went one better by picking up first F50 prize at Lostock in a time of 44:38. Ferguson also led her teammates to fourth place in the vets race with Sue Williams (42:06), Liz Hopley (43:22) and Maria Parkinson (52:34) completing the team.
In the men’s cross country race, Burnden finished in an impressive second place overall with Knowles, Thomas (2nd V50), White, Duffy, Greenall and Christie completing the team.
Thomas, Duffy and Greenall also picked up third place in the vets team competition. Other Burnden prizewinners at the Lostock race were Dave Pearson, who finished third V55, and Sue Booth who was second F45.
