ELTON Vale clinched the Division One title in the Farnworth League with a resounding 75-run win over Kearsley, their second in consecutive matches.
With a week still to play, Wally’s Eleven were confirmed as runners-up by beating Adlington while both the teams threatening their position lost.
The Grapes A lost by eight runs to Capital Catering who did the damage in the first innings when they built up a lead of 85- 63. Although The Grapes fought back and won the second innings 82-68, they did not do enough to deny Capital their fourth victory of the season.
BabyGuds Kubs avenged last week’s defeat by beating BabyGuds by 17 runs.
Scoring 84 in each innings, Kubs increased their firstinnings lead to take the points.
In the final matches, Wally’s Eleven play Elton Vale. One point separates The Grapes A and BabyGuds so when they meet on Sunday, a Babyguds win would put them above Grapes and into third place.
The Division Two title could require a play-off between Bank Top Brewery and The New Inn if the latter beat AJs next week.
If Bank Top had won on Sunday, they would have been champions, but the result has appeared as a draw. There was confusion at the end of the game with one score sheet showing a draw and the other showing a narrow Bank top win. Having agreed to a draw, New Inn are two points behind with one match to play while Bank Top have completed their fixtures.
The Bolton Cricket Club League has two rearranged weeks remaining.
Undefeated Darcy Blues are runaway champions of Division One and confirmed their superiority with a 26- run win over secondplaced Laurel Ladies.
KC Ladies, who conceded last week, got their act together on Sunday and beat Party Perfections.
Winning the first innings by 35 they went on to win by 52.
Although undefeated in Division Two, Dave’s Minibus still need one point to secure the title. A 73- run win over bottom side BCC Girls looked a one-sided game, but the BCC youngsters gave a good account of themselves.
Handicaps counted for nothing in the Eagley League. BB Belles went into their match against Divas with a 20-run start but lost by 29, leaving Divas top of the table along with Redgate who beat Astley Bridge Ladies by 63.
Westside overcame a 20-run handicap to beat Hi Q Fabs.
