ELTON Vale suffered their first defeat of the season in the Farnworth Winter Rounders League.
The leaders lost by eight runs to BabyGuds who were five behind on the first innings.
There was little between the teams on runs scored off the bat, but Elton contributed to their own downfall by bowling considerably more bad balls, particularly in the second innings.
Although five points behind the leaders, BabyGuds are now just one point behind second-placed Wally’s Eleven who recovered from an eight-run first innings deficit to beat Capital Catering by eight.
With just seven players, Capital had a difficult task on a partly frozen pitch, but they failed to repeat their first innings performance.

Division Two leaders The New Inn had an innings victory over The Grapes C, who lasted the full first innings but were all out in 20 good balls in the second.
Bank Top Brewery stay two points off the lead following a 29-run win over Aura Ladies, while AJs are third following their 30-run victory over bottom side Contract Services.
Instead of a scheduled free week, The Bolton Cricket Club League played the matches which were postponed because of the snow in December.
Darcy Blues continued their domination of Division One by beating bottom team Party Perfections.
Leading by 33 on the first innings, they only needed 11 runs in the second to win.
KC Ladies overturned the form book to beat Laurel Ladies. Leading by 10 runs from the first innings, they held on to win the match by eight.
Division Two leaders Dave’s Minibus had a comfortable 48-run win over second-placed JJs, but the other match in the Division was much closer.
Bolton South Ladies had a nine-run first innings advantage, but BCC Girls were determined not to buckle and pulled back three runs in the second innings, though it was not enough to deny Bolton South their second victory of the season.
In the Eagley League, two of the four matches had very close finishes and there were runaway wins in the other two.
Joint leaders BB Belles had a scare against Westside XI, but triumphed by just two runs at 147-145.
The other joint leaders, Divas Redgate, had no such problems, beating Care Staff Solutions by 61 and Redgate winning by an innings and three over Eagley Pike.
The other close encounter saw Astley Bridge Ladies beat Hi Q Fabs by two runs, leaving both teams on six points.
