JUSSI Jaaskelainen’s luck was out against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium as woeful Wanderers slipped to a fifth away defeat in a row.

The Bolton goalkeeper inadvertently kicked Danny Higginbotham’s close-range effort over the line after a scramble at the far post from Tuncay’s corner.

And Jaaskelainen could only push Matthew Etherington’s penalty onto the post and into the back of the net on a miserable afternoon for Owen Coyle’s men.

Robert Huth twice went close with headers and Jaaskelainen tipped Kenwyne Jones’ volley over the bar before the Potters took a deserved 37th-minute lead after dominating the opening period.

Johan Elmander flicked on Tuncay’s set-play at the near post and a sprawling Jaaskelainen could only help in Higginbotham’s shot with his leg. Bolton managed their first shot on target six minutes into the second half when Stuart Holden’s free kick finally forced Asmir Begovic into action.

But Etherington doubled Stoke’s lead from the spot after Zat Knight had brought down the flying winger on 63 minutes.

Coyle threw on Martin Petrov and Rodrigo as Wanderers searched for a way back into the game but none was forthcoming for Bolton who have now scored just once in their last five games away from the Reebok.
