WITH just six years to go until the UK hosts the 2012 Olympics, Bolton is already getting ready!
Bolton's first annual "Countdown to the Olympics" event took place in Victoria Square with the Mayor of Bolton, Councillor Walter Hall launching balloons to mark the occasion.
Bolton Council's Sport Health and Inclusion Service and Serco Leisure were on hand to talk to people about ways they can get active, and even the Mayor showed how it was done on a rowing machine!
People of all ages took part in a sprint challenge which recorded their best time in a 100m dash, and hundreds signed up for the 2012 skipping challenge taking place all this week.
The event, organised by Bolton Council's Sport Health and Inclusion Service and Bolton Town Centre Company, will take place on the same day every year.
