A SECURITY guard foiled a gang of would-be robbers when he locked himself inside the van they were trying to raid.
The three men, who were all wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, struck as the guard was collecting cash from the Asda supermarket in Pilsworth, Bury, at 4pm on Saturday.
The security guard was depositing money into the side hatch of the van when a black Saab pulled up beside it.
Three masked men got out and threatened the security guard.
The guard managed to get back into his van and locked himself in.
He was unhurt during the attack and the men fled empty handed.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to contact Bury CID 0161 856 8150 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
