AN eyesore' at the home of Prestwich Heys AFC has finally been given planning permission.
But councillors have given the developers a maximum of four months to complete their work and leave the Sandgate Road site.
Residents were angry that, earlier this year, the Highways Agency turned the football club's car park into a compound for staff carrying out bridge strengthening works on the M60. It emerged that planning permission should have been sought, because the roadworks were not next to the site but two miles away.
Despite objections, members at Tuesday's planning committee gave their consent for the compound. They said the adverse effects on local residents would be only temporary, but imposed a November 30 deadline for vacating the site.
The developers hope to complete the works by the end of September, and have promised to reinstate the temporary car park to a grassed area.
