CASES of food poisoning could increase this year because of the hot weather, experts have warned.
As temperatures remain high, health experts say the increasing popularity of barbecues is leading to a greater risk of food being undercooked.
There were 198 food poisoning cases in Bolton last year and the figure is likely to increase by the end of this year.
Shieldyourself, a health and safety and food safety consultancy, predicts cases across the country could rise by 30 per cent before the end of August.
So far there has been a total of 32,935 reported cases of food poisoning throughout the UK. The figures are up from 32,642 at this time last year.
l The weather for the coming week is set to be scorching with the temperature forecast to be 28C (82F) tomorrow, 30C (86F) on Wednesday and 25C (77F) on Friday.
