RAMSBOTTOM A maintained top spot in the Premier Division with a 6-3 win at Radcliffe CC.
Mick Moir trebled for the reigning champions, with Wayne Renton winning two for Radcliffe.
Second-placed Hilton A closed the gap on Ramsbottom to one point with a comprehensive 8-1 victory over St Catherine’s B, Ron Pennington and Dave Pickard both trebling and Graham Coupe winning two.
Three wins by Phil Riley, and two apiece by Keith Jackson and Graham Young gave Ramsbottom C a 7-2 victory over their B team, whose Martin Whyatt scored two.
Charles Musa and Pavel Orzechowski both won three for St Catherine’s A at Wharton in a 6-3 win.
Division One leaders Nomads A scraped a 5-4 win at Ramsbottom D, who are two points adrift in second place. Dennis Collier and Derek Watmough won two apiece, Neil Booth won two for the losers.
Keith Dale and Gareth Palmer trebled for Nomads B who won 7-2 at Hilton B.
Little Lever B, who are having problems raising a team, fielded two subs, John Hutchinson and Paul Tatlock, who won three and two matches, respectively, along with three wins by Roy Costello to give them an 8-1 win at Wingates.
Heaton B beat Grubba Fans 5-4 with three wins by Ian Craig and two by Barry Dobbins.
Three wins by John Hutchinson, two by Paul Tatlock and one by Chris Sutcliffe gave Little Lever C a 6-3 victory over Ladybridge A Top Division Two team Hilton D beat their C team 7- 2, with Steve Jones and Phil Noden unbeaten.
Sharing second place are Farnworth TTC A and Heaton C, although Heaton have a match in hand. Farnworth’s 6-3 win at St Catherine’s C featured three wins by Graham Clayborough and two by Kirit Chauhan. Roy Alty scored two for St Cath’s.
Heaton C’s John Scowcroft, Duncan Kay and Steve Peet were unbeaten in a 9-0 win against Hilton E.
Ladybridge B’s Alex Waring, Steve Hathaway and Brian Greenhalgh all won two against Heaton E, whose Mike Dunn was unbeaten.
A treble by Rod Hall plus a double by John Dodd helped BEN A to a 6-3 win at Little Lever D for whom Alan Lansdale won two.
Three wins by Mick Brierley and two each by Paul Whyatt and Richard Hinchcliffe gave Meadow Bank a 7- 2 victory over Heaton D.
Hilton G maintained their unbeaten record to top Division Three with a 7-2 victory over their H team which gives them a seven-point advantage over Farnworth TTC B in second. The win featured trebles by Barak Young and Gary Hibbert.
Farnworth’s 7-2 win at Farnworth SC featured three wins by Nathan Patel and Daniel Harris.
Alan Hibbert was unbeaten for BEN B who lost 6-3 at Hilton F. In a match that was much closer then the scoreline suggests, St Paul’s Peel scored an 8-1 win against Hilton I which included trebles by Mick Murray and Ian Westmoreland, and a double by Geoff Rushton.
Brass are one point ahead of Harper Green and Hit & Hope in Division Four after scraping home 5-4 against Hit & Hope. Edward Ademolu and San Thien won two for Brass, and Tim Fields was unbeaten for Hit & Hope. Harper Green also won 5-4 at Farnworth TTC C, Peter McMinn and James Storey both winning two for the high-flyers. John Hilton won three for Farnworth.
The Hilton J junior team scored their first win of the season, beating Lads Club B 8-1 with trebles by Max Maybury and David Walsh, and a double by Matthew Fishwick.
Heaton F’s Colin Roberts, Phil Beales and Dace Jones each won two in their 6-3 victory over Lads Cub A whose Raj Patel was unbeaten. Boyzone’s 7-2 win against Ladybridge C featured three wins by Jez and Nick Grimwood.
